Who we are

Peter Hart is Kitty Hart-Moxon’s younger son. He is originally from Birmingham where he grew up. He studied physics at Manchester University and then worked for 40 years in the computer and IT industry in a variety of senior management roles supporting many large international clients. He has been the Treasurer of his local synagogue in St Albans, which he says is like running a small business. He is presently the Company Secretary of Harpenden Connect which is the charity that runs the Harpenden Hopper community minibus service.

Moira Hart, is Peter’s wife, and Kitty’s daughter-in-law. A graduate from the University of Hertfordshire, Moira has had a teaching career in between bringing up four sons. She has also been the chair of governors of Roundwood Park School. She has also been a trustee and later Chair of St Albans Masorti Synagogue. Her strategic management skills then led her to the position of Co-Chair of Masorti Judaism UK, the representative body for the movement.

Peter and Moira first visited Auschwitz-Birkenau with Kitty in 2003, joining one of the “Holocaust Educational Trust Lessons from Auschwitz” visits. Since then, they have accompanied Kitty on further trips to Poland, visiting her home town of Bielsko with their family and other places relevant to Kitty’s story of survival, including many return visits to Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Peter and Moira started presenting Kitty’s story of survival a few years ago from a 2nd generation perspective. Their chief objective is to ensure that Kitty’s testimony continues to be told and explained for the future generations. They believe that the direct family connection to Kitty allows her story to be retold by them with a high degree of authenticity, whilst accepting it can never exactly replicate first-hand eye witness accounts.

Peter and Moira regularly speak at schools, colleges, universities, companies, football clubs and other interested organisations across the UK.
